Celebrate 40 Years of Star Wars!
Tomorrow, Star Wars celebrates its ruby anniversary and we’ve got the perfect way for you to celebrate: a behind-the-scenes look at the animation of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!
Like many of us, Hal Hickel’s love for Star Wars began when he first saw the movie in 1977, which led him to a career in visual effects, and today, he’s an award-winning artist at the top of his field.
Hickel's Star Wars dream was realized in 1999 when he worked on Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and continued last year with the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
On Saturday, May 27, join us in celebrating 40 years of magic as Hickel regales us with stories which trace his origins from fan-boy to Supervisor, sharing his love of animation and the challenges his team faced on creating Rogue One's K-2SO, Grand Moff Tarkin, the At-Acts walkers, and much more!
Note that the venue for this event has changed! The date and time remains the same but the presentation will now be taking place at the Roundhouse Arts & Recreational Centre!

Voiceover for Cartoons: Very Few Seats Left!
Part of the magic of animation are the voices that bring the characters to life and give them personality. Would Applejack, Bart Simpson or Bender be as memorable without the talents of Ashleigh Ball, Nancy Cartwright and John DiMaggio? Ever wonder what it takes to be a voiceover actor?
On Tuesday, May 30 at the Vancity Theatre, Drawn Together Vancouver is bringing together actors, casting/voice directors, agents and producers to share their unique perspectives on what it takes to break in and make it in this thriving BC community!
This event is free and space is limited! To register for your spot, email email@example.com.

An acclaimed graphic novelist, Dash Shaw makes his feature film debut with the audacious My Entire Highschool is Sinking Into the Sea.
Part John Hughes high-school dramedy and part disaster movie, Shaw's take on friendship, romance and highschool drama is both on point and makes for some hilarious moments.
Add an A-list voice cast which includes the likes of Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph, Susan Sarandon, John Cameron Mitchell and Thomas Jay Ryan, and you have yourself one of the most original animated movies of last year.
My Entire Highschool is Sinking Into the Sea is playing at the Vancity Theatre until May 25.
