Meet the Original Bad Boy of Animation!

That's right, Danny Antonucci, the man behind the longest running original Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd n Eddy and producer of cult classics like Lupo the Butcher and The Brothers Grunt, is going to be sharing his adventures in the world of animation, how his life in East Vancouver inspires his work and how he turned his unique style and brand of animation into pop culture gold.

On Saturday, September 9 at 1:30PM, Danny will be taking over the Vancouver Film School. Don't miss your chance to meet this creative powerhouse!

SPARK ANIMATION Festival Opening Night is on Fire!

If you were on holidays last week, you may have missed the big news that SPARK ANIMATION will play host to the Western Canadian premiere of The Breadwinner, the latest project from Cartoon Saloon, the studio behind the Oscar®-nominated films The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea.

We are also excited to announce that director Nora Twomey, one of only a handful of female directors to direct a solo animated film, will return to Vancouver to introduce The Breadwinner on Thursday, October 26 at the Scotiabank Theatre. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Festival website.

In addition, Ms. Twomey will also be presenting at the SPARK Conference. Conference passes are currently on sale at the Conference website.

Glen Keane Returns!

A 38-year veteran of Walt Disney Feature Animation, legendary artist Glen Keane is responsible for shaping a generation of fans, having created such memorable characters as The Little Mermaid’s Ariel and the Beast in Beauty & the Beast.

Mr. Keane presented his directorial debut Duet at SPARK Animation and we are excited to welcome him once again to present his latest project, Dear Basketball, an animated collaboration between Mr. Keane, legendary basketball icon, Kobe Bryant, and 5-time Academy Award-winning composer, John Williams.

Mr. Keane will be introducing his new film at the SPARK ANIMATION Celebration on Thursday, October 26 at the Scotiabank Theatre. Tickets for this event can be purchased at the Festival website.

In addition, Mr. Keane will be the keynote presenter at the SPARK ANIMATION Conference. The 2-day conference passes are now on sale!
