SPARK Opening Night Online Sales Close at Midnight!

We’re just over 24 hours away from the kick-off of SPARK ANIMATION 2017 and this year’s opening night celebration will be the biggest one yet!

In addition to the Western Canadian premiere of Nora Twomey’s The Breadwinner and the Canadian premiere of Glen Keane’s Dear Basketball, the evening will be full of special guests as the inaugural WIA Diversity Awards will be presented to Ms. Twomey, Walt Disney Animation Studio, and Oscar-winning director John Kahrs (Paperman).

Festivities will continue with the SPARK Animation Celebration. The star studded event features the award-winning films selected by this year’s Festival Jury. In addition to the filmmakers in attendance, including Weekends director Trevor Jimenez and the directing team of Garden Party who are joining us from France, we will also be presenting the Spark CG Lifetime Achievement Award to the incomparable Glen Keane.

Online ticket sales for both of these screenings close at midnight tonight and can be purchased on our website. A very limited number of tickets will be available for sale at the venue.

Highlights include the Canadian premieres of Hiromasa Yonebayashi’s May and the Witch’s Flower and the visually arresting Chinese feature Big Fish & Begonia as well as the Western Canadian premieres of the hilarious Big Bad Fox & Other Tales and Mutafukaz.

We are also pleased to announce that the theatrical premiere of Mune: Guardian of the Moon will include a Q&A with art director Remi Salmon. This all ages presentation on Saturday is not to be missed!
