Final day of SPARK ANIMATION 2018 Conference

The final day of the SPARK ANIMATION 2018 Conference is upon us and there’s still time for you to take in some of the action, inspiration, and networking.

Sunday Day Passes, as well as single session tickets, will be available for purchase at the venue beginning at 8AM. Day Passes are $175 while single session tickets are $30 each.

Weekend and Day Pass holders will have priority access to both Track 1 and 2 of programming but Track 2 is free and open to the public.

Don’t forget that if you have a Pass, you can access the film screenings. Be sure to head over to the Vancity Theatre to take in the closing films!

SPARK ANIMATION 2018 Closes Tonight

After three days of feature films and shorts programs, the final SPARK ANIMATION Film Festival screenings take place today at the Vancity Theatre.

The last day of screening begins at 3PM with the Canadian Premiere of Modest Heroes of These Times, an anthology collection from Ponoc Studios featuring new works from the Academy Award-nominated Hiromasa Yonebayashi (Arrietty, When Marnie Was There, Mary & the Witch’s Flower), Yoshiyuki Momose (lead animation director on films by Isao Takahata), and Akihiko Yamashita (lead animator on films by Hayao Miyazaki).

The program will be accompanied by a selection of SPARK shorts.

At 5PM we welcome the return of the Mothers of a Medium program showcasing the best animation from rising female animators from around the globe. Projects include Pixar director Domee Shi’s charming Bao, and Laura Hodkin’s hilariously relatable Haley & Joanna among others.

The festival will close with the International Premiere of The Moon in the Hidden Woods at 8PM. Coming to Vancouver directly from its world premiere at the Bucheon International Animation Festival, we are excited to welcome director Takahiro Umehara who will partake in a post-screening Q & A.

Online sales have now closed but tickets for all of the films will be available at the venue box office (accepting cash, credit and debit).

Proceeds from all festival screenings (less PayPal fees and GST) will be donated to Covenant House Vancouver.
