Designing for Mixed Reality

VR, AR, XR, MR. These buzzwords have been circling in the world of gaming and film for some time but over the last few years, the technologies have seen uptake in other industries and for other uses. Mixed Reality (MR) is perhaps the most versatile of these technologies, mixing real and virtual worlds to produce new hybrid environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time.

This fundamental shift to spatial computing requires adaptation. Designers and engineers need to better understand 3D concepts so that they can take full advantage of an expanded canvas.

On Friday, May 24 at 7:15 pm, join Andrew Klein, Lead Mixed Reality Designer at Microsoft Vancouver, as he answers questions and addresses some of the problems, techniques and solutions encountered by his team as they created Dynamics 365 Guides, a tool which helps individuals learn new skills faster by using step-by-step instructions that guide employees to the tools and parts they need and how to use them in real work situations.

The presentation will take place at Vancouver Film School (420 Homer Street). Tickets are $10 and $9 for groups of 5 or more (note that group pricing is only available through online advance sales).

There will be a meet-and-greet at 6:30 pm at the licensed VFS Cafe.

When: Friday, May 24 @ 7:15 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm)
Where: Vancouver Film School
Digital Media Campus, Main Theatre
420 Homer Street
Vancouver, Canada
Admission: $10 // Groups (5+): $9*
