Final Day of Conference Presentations

Day two of the SPARK ANIMATION Conference opens tomorrow at 10 am when Jose Velasquez and Meg Park take the stage at Reliance Theatre while Doran Mayer kicks off the presentations in Rennie Hall (both at 520 East 1st Avenue).

Other presentations include historian Mindy Johnson talking about some of the women who shaped Disney Animation, a look at the making of the upcoming, locally-produced feature film The Willoughbys, a panel presentation on the rise of animated documentaries, producer David Sacks and creator Olan Rogers will talk about the breakout Adult Swim series Final Space along with many others.

Interested in attending just one session? Single tickets are available for $25 each (including taxes & fees).

Have a conference pass? Don’t forget that you can use your pass to access the festival screenings on stand-by. What does that mean? Come to the VIFC Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour Street), flash your badge and if there are empty seats, you get to watch a movie.

Dragons, Worms & Frogs. Oh My!

Looking for some family-friendly fare? The final day of festival screenings begin at 3:30 pm at the VIFC Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour Street) with Not Just For Kids, featuring a collection of short films celebrating diversity, inclusivity and the BC theatrical premiere of ZOG, Max Lang and Daniel Snaddon’s adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s beloved children’s book.

The premieres continue with the World Premiere of The Butterfly Affect, which will open this year’s Mother’s of a Medium program.

The day will also include the BC Premiere of Animation Outlaws which will be followed by a Q&A with director Kat Alioshin and a group of distinguished artists including Marv Newland, Danny Antonucci, and Bill Plympton among others.

This year’s festival will close with the BC Premiere of Gitanjali Rao’s beautiful film Bombay Rose.

Tickets available at the venue starting at 2:30 pm. Cash, debit and most credit cards accepted.

Don’t forget: if you have a conference pass, you can also attend the film festival screenings via standy-by access.

Net proceeds from this year’s film festival screenings, including this one, will be donated to Covenant House Vancouver.
